Olde Fashioned Christmas Show to debut in Kamiah

(Kamiah)-As the song says, "It's the most wonderful time of the year" and what better way to kick off the holiday season, then to join Upriver Youth Leadership Council for a night of musical and theatrical fun, as they take amazing local talents to the stage for their first ever holiday show. The "Olde Fashioned Christmas Show" will feature local talent from around the Clearwater Valley in a night of singing, performing and dancing to the greatest songs of the season.

The show is set for Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Kamiah American Legion Post on Main Street. Doors will open at 5:30. Tickets are $5 for Adults, $3 for seniors/students K-12, Veterans and children under four are free.   UYLC has a limited number of family scholarships available.

"We are extremely excited to present our first-ever Christmas show," said UYLC Executive Director Sharlene Johnson. "We've been thinking about doing this for a while and adding this event to our very successful "UYLC Festival of Trees" will give our local talent a chance to shine on stage along with the twinkling lights on our spectacular trees and wreaths. We are very excited to present this show in Kamiah. It will be a great way to start the holiday season." Proceeds from the show and the Festival of Tree’s Auction will help to open a teen center in Kamiah in 2019, Johnson added.

The acts are very diverse, from Christmas ballroom dancing exhibits to a Karate exhibition performed to “Holly Jolly Christmas”.  There are many different instruments being used throughout the show as well including fiddle, violin, mandolin, and ukulele.  Locals Josh Crosby, Jeanie Black, Michelle Brotnov, Marty Graham, Trena Schleiper, Pat Hunter and Kelly Lineberry will be singing all your Christmas favorites as well as originals.  There will be skits, poetry and a compelling reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by KHS drama coach Jody Dow.  During intermission Ted Weeks will search the crowd for the highest bidders for the UYLC Festival of Trees Live auction, along with a pie social featuring homemade pies by the valley’s greatest bakers.  The evening will end with Christmas caroling and Chinese lanterns on Main Street.

This show is sure to delight both young and old, make plans to start a new Christmas tradition and begin your holiday season with this festive show!  For more information or (208)-743-0392.
